Baby feet

Biography

The earliest, and one of the fondest, memories I have is of my Nana massaging lotion into my skin after having a bath. My sister, brother and I would squabble over whose turn it was to lay on the towel in front of the fire and be nurtured by this amazing lady. Then, later, in bed we would drift, happily, off to sleep with her rubbing our backs, whispering wonderful stories to us.

My Nana has been an amazing and inspirational figure in my life and now that I have children of my own I think back to those memories and want to create safe and happy memories for my two girls to look back on.

Succeeding in making my passion into a job that I can balance with a hectic life running around after the kids is fantastic. Even though they are no longer babies, I still massage them regularly. At the end of a busy, stressful day I don’t want to fight or argue with them and I find that massaging them calms them, and me, making the bedtime routine more pleasurable.

Taking time-out from the every-day pressures is invaluable as it enables me to re-connect with them and we have many precious moments together. They have even started to massage me now – what goes around, comes around!

My name is Rachel Jessop and I live on the northern beaches of Sydney. Originally from England, I have lived in Australia for nearly ten years and love living in Dee Why by the beach. I am a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and completed my training with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) and am also Website Secretary for IAIM.

Being an Infant Massage Instructor and sharing this knowledge is amazing and uplifting. I have experienced how overwhelming it can be to come home from hospital with your baby and felt at a loss where to start! Encouraging and educating parents on the benefits of nurturing touch and helping them to communicate with their baby makes it an easier and more enjoyable journey for everyone.
